Summertime Fruits
Summertime fruits are hitting the grocery store shelves. Among my favorites are the stone fruits, peaches, plums, and apricots. Heck, I love ALL summer fruits! Going to our local farmer’s market this time of year just makes me happy!
When picking out these stone fruits, avoid fruit with any torn outer skin or bruising.
If the peaches, plums, or apricots are still really firm, then let soften in a closed brown paper bag until they yield slightly to touch then store in the refrigerator until you’re ready to eat them.
Eat them alone for a quick and easily digestible snack or add them to a green or grain salad, whole oats or wheat bran, or smoothie loaded with your favorite fruits and vegetables.
Don’t forget about the fabulous hybrids out there like pluots, plumcots, and apriums.
